The purpose of Asian American Recovery Services, Inc. is to decrease the incidence and impact of substance abuse in the Asian and Pacific Islander communities of the San Francisco Bay Area. To accomplish this goal, Asian American Recovery Services, develops and provides innovative outreach, treatment, prevention and research services for its target populations. Because there are multiple causes and effects of substance abuse, Asian American Recovery Services, Inc. also engages in ancillary activities to meet its goal.
The Young Father Project was developed to work with young fathers and young fathers-to-be ages 14-24. The program is designed to provide education, counseling and other support services through individual counseling, group sessions, case management and family activities. Topics addressed in the educational and support groups may include but not limited to: Parenting/Co-Parenting Parental Roles & Responsibilities Communication Skills Safer Sex and Pregnancy Prevention CPS Laws Importance of Education Substance Abuse and Gang Prevention/Intervention The Young Father Project is made possible through funding from City of San Jose - Bringing Everyoneâ??s Strengths Together (B.E.S.T.).
